Braces at our Yuba City office
Fixed braces are still the most reliable way to correct a difficult bite, and for children and teenagers they take the decision about wearing them out of everyone’s hands. Treatment is provided here on Plumas Street, not referred across town.
When braces are the better choice
Aligners suit most adults. Braces suit these.
- Significant crowding, rotation or impacted teeth
- Bite correction that needs more force than a tray can apply
- Children and teenagers still growing, where timing matters
- Anyone who knows they would not keep aligners in
How treatment goes
Most cases run 12 to 24 months.
Consultation and records
Photographs, X-rays and a 3D scan, so the plan is built on measurements rather than an eye.
Fitting the braces
One longer appointment. Expect tenderness for a few days while the teeth start to move.
Adjustments
Every four to eight weeks, each one a short visit.
Off, and retained
Removal takes one appointment, and retainers are fitted the same day.
What it costs
Braces are quoted after the consultation, because the figure depends on how long treatment will take. Some PPO plans include orthodontic cover, and CareCredit and Cherry spread the balance monthly. You get the figure in writing before anything is booked, and we check your insurance first so you know your share, not just the list price.
Common questions
How much do braces cost?
The quote comes after the consultation and records, because the price tracks how long the case will take. Some PPO plans include orthodontic cover, and monthly payment plans are available for the rest.
How long will my child be in braces?
Usually 12 to 24 months. Crowding alone is quicker than crowding plus a bite correction, and we will give you a realistic range at the consultation.
Do braces hurt?
They ache for a few days after fitting and after each adjustment. Over-the-counter pain relief and soft food cover it. After the first week most people forget they are there.
What age should my child be seen?
Around seven is the usual recommendation for a first assessment. That is not when treatment starts; it is when problems are easiest to spot and plan around.
Braces or Invisalign?
Braces for complex bites, growing children and anyone who would not wear trays. Invisalign for most adult cases. We provide both, so the recommendation is not decided by what we happen to offer.
