Dental veneers
A thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth, changing its colour, shape and alignment in two visits. Veneers are cosmetic, they are irreversible, and they are worth doing properly or not at all.
What veneers fix
And what they do not.
- Deep staining that whitening cannot shift
- Chipped, worn or uneven edges
- Small gaps between front teeth
- Teeth that are slightly out of line, where full orthodontics is not wanted
They are not a fix for gum disease, active decay or a bite that is destroying itself. Those come first.
How it goes
Usually two visits, two to three weeks apart.
Design the smile
Photographs, a 3D scan and a conversation about how you actually want to look. You approve the design before anything is touched.
Prepare and scan
A small amount of enamel is removed so the veneer sits flush. Temporaries go on the same day.
Fit and bond
The veneers are tried in, adjusted for shade and shape, then bonded.
Protect them
If you grind, a night guard is part of the treatment, not an afterthought.
What it costs
Veneers start at $999 per tooth, and most people have between four and ten, so the total depends on how many you are having. Cosmetic work is rarely covered by insurance; CareCredit and Cherry spread the cost. You get the figure in writing before anything is booked, and we check your insurance first so you know your share, not just the list price.
Common questions
How much do veneers cost?
From $999 per tooth, and the total depends on how many you have. Four is a different conversation from ten. We quote the whole case in writing after the design appointment, and insurance rarely covers cosmetic work.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15 years, longer if you do not grind. They can chip, and a night guard is the single best thing you can do to protect them.
Is enamel removed?
Yes, a small amount, so the veneer sits flush instead of looking bulky. That is why veneers are irreversible and why we would rather you were certain before starting.
Veneers or whitening?
If the shape and alignment are fine and only the colour bothers you, whiten. It costs a fraction and removes no enamel. Veneers are for when shape, edges or gaps are part of the problem.
Will they look fake?
Not if they are designed to your face rather than to a catalogue. You see and approve the design before any tooth is prepared.
